I graduated from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada with a Master of Science and Bachelor of Arts Honours in Food, Agriculture and Resource Economics. I will be joining the WGD program, as well as the wider CIRED operations in August 2018.
What will you do as a Graduate Research Assistant with the WGD Program? My work the WGP program will include working on data collection and analysis for Virginia Tech’s Food Access and Security study as well as the planning and execution of CIRED’s conference titled Women and gender in development: Out of the theory into the field.
What are your plans at Virginia Tech and beyond?
Over the next two years I will be working towards completing my PhD in Planning, Governance and Globalization and the Master of Public Health program. Next summer, I will be carrying out field work for my dissertation in Mozambique to develop a nutrition education program that supports local food markets producing nutritious foods. After I’m finished my PhD I plan to either become a professor at an academic institution in either Canada or the US, or work for an NGO that is involved with innovative food and nutrition interventions.
